PREFACE · Volume Three · One-Way Roads
Walk the roadinto a slim volume
This volume holds four one-way roads: a ridge in fog, a river still crossed by ferry, a grassy cape in the wind, and a village under snow. The pictures are laid out page by page, with fewer words than photographs and more white space than words. I was not thinking of a book while walking; once home, I only wanted the pages to turn more slowly.

One landscape, one portrait
The wide frame tells the story; the tall one keeps the details. The two pictures lean against each other, and the paper-white between them is part of the photograph too.

PL.01 — The fog folded the ridge into pages, each one paler than the last.
PL.02Chapter 2 · Ford
